CHUCK MASEK: A LEADERSHIP STORY THROUGH HILLS & VALLEYS
Chuck Masek, our very own President & CEO, was recently interviewed by Bitbean regarding his carer in the medical industry, his professional highs and lows and the mentality that carried him through it all.
Masek is a success story, but not without facing plenty of valleys before climbing the ultimate hill to establish himself as a thought leader, entrepreneur and widely-respected individual in his field.
Becoming a leader isn't easy and it often requires venturing off the beaten path. Take a look at these three pivotal points Masek noted in his interview.
#1 Envision The Life You Want For Yourself & Those You Love:
When Masek first began in his field, he was isolated and often worked alone.
"I spent every day working by myself and had little interaction with other people. It was the visits from salesmen who stopped by that became memorable. Their visits offered me a glimpse at the life I wanted. They seemed comfortable with their success and satisfied with their lives. I wasn’t. I hungered for more."
It was then that he envisioned the life he wanted for himself and his family and began carrying himself differently in a way that aligned his entire life and values with the future he saw for himself.
#2 Identify the Strengths You Already Have & Build:
Everyone has inherent strengths and weaknesses. One of Masek's keys to success was identifying the skills he acquired growing up and realizing they were directly applicable to executing his vision.
"I had spent the past fifteen years honing the skills I relied upon in childhood to diffuse those dangerous situations with my father and I had become a successful salesman, thanks in part to him. I also loved being a salesman. Selling to people was not only a productive exchange but an enjoyable one — for them and for me."
Having the vision means nothing without focus and Masek took his goals to the next level with an unmatched level of dedication in which he channels his existing strengths towards his future.
#3 Have a Purpose
This may seem straight-forward, but it is a distinct quality many companies and leaders are missing. Having a genuine purpose and authentically-rooted vision is what sets you and your team apart from the crowd.
When Masek first began, feeding his family was his primary motivation and he had a vested interest in the success of his business. Often times, we are reticent to fully jump into a project for fear we will lose something. However, making the success personal and keeping a vested interest in its success is vital to yielding meaningful results.
Profit is important, but why would that profit and success make a difference in your life? Is it to feed your family, provide superior education for your kids, pay it forward, etc? What is your reason?
Take these three steps as a starting point: Envision Your Future, Identify & Apply Your Strengths and Keep That Purpose Close!
